Special guests and exciting technologies provided tremendous value to our customers who attended the event at the La Jolla Hyatt.
February 3, 2010 - on a beautiful sunny San Diego day, 200+ IT leaders and professionals from all over southern California converged on the La Jolla Hyatt to attend GTC Systems’ biggest event ever hosting Mr. Gordon Payne Citrix’ Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Desktop Division.
With his usually captivating and passionate style, Gordon Payne electrified the audience with a compelling presentation leaving no room for doubt that Desktop Virtualization is truly a game changer for IT.
Gordon showed that the desktop is no longer a physical device encumbered with an OS and application files. Instead the desktop now is a service presented as a pristine image from the datacenter everytime a user logs in, giving the user the “Day One” experience of owning a new computer every single time the user accesses the desktop.
Along with Gordon, Brad Peterson, Citrix’s Chief Demo Engineer provided demos with his usual entertaining approach that clearly explained the concept, and how “going virtual at the desktop” is the fastest way to move to this new, IT as a service model. Attendees clearly saw how it is more flexible, more secure, and at a lower cost than any business desktop.
In addition, GTC had a very special guest who flew from San Jose to tell his amazing story with Citrix XenDesktop. Mr. Charles Kanavel, IT Director of Campbell Union High School District shared his recent experiences with their organization going to a virtual desktop. With 7,600 students across seven campuses, their integration efforts provided a direct cost savings of $250,000 the first year along with numerous features and benefits to the staff and students.
They were able to virtually eliminate help desk tickets to virtual desktops and realizing tremendous savings in support costs.
This event clearly showed that Desktop Virtualization has grown into a solution that any organization can adapt into their environment with improved TCO, simplified management, all within an open architecture.
GTC Systems would like to extend our thanks to our special guests, sponsors, and most importantly, everyone who attended. We look forward to another year as one of Citrix’s prominent Platinum Solution Advisors, as well as a trusted Citrix partner to our many clients nationwide to help with offering IT as a service using Desktop Virtualization.
